Seasonal health tips from Chinese medicine:
Fall is the season of metal, which correlates to the lungs. Taking care of your lungs in fall makes you more resilient to colds and flus in winter. A simple trick to make your lungs happy and avoid dryness and coughing is drinking warm “pear soup”.
Pear soup recipe: 2 pears quartered and simmered in 2 cups (or more) filtered water
Just enough water to cover the pears, simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Discard pears, drink 1 cup of warm fluid per day.
Any type of pear works.
Drink stays good in the refrigerator for 3 days in an airtight container. Drink warm.
All cold foods and beverages injure the lungs, aim for body-temperature or warmer to prevent cough and other respiratory problems.
Did you know? Grief is the emotion that injures the lungs...
